I’m impressed by the educational approach in this app. It seems to me Magnus might have really contributed to it and steer-headed it. It really walks through the fundamentals in a solid way, always explaining the bigger picture, which can be lacking in a lot of different educational resources these days (instead they go into the weeds too much). In my opinion, there’s some details with the UX that could be better, for example the chess pieces are a bit hard to tell apart with the style they choose, and it’s annoying that there’s only a small area you can tap to go to the next slide (where you have to locate your finger, instead of being able to use a gesture for example). But overall I’m pleased with this app and I’m a paying subscriber at the moment.
TIRED OF THIS FREEMIUM SUBSCRIPTION MODEL. THE FREE PART IS ONLY FOR PUZZLES AND THE LESSONS ARE PAID FOR (WHICH IS FINE BUT DON'T CALL IT FREE). UN INSTALLING!
This app has boosted my confidence in playing chess and made it more fun to play. I highly recommend for anyone wanting to improve their understanding and enjoyment of chess.
Amazing app !!!
Very good app but needs better ipad and web support.
Helped in the beginning. To actually improve in chess, you got to pay. Kinda dumb.
Not even a landscape mode for the app, good luck using it with a tablet
One of my favourite chess apps, and I’ve used a lot. I don’t know how much better it’ll actually make your chess - i seriously doubt it’d improve tactical skills - but it’s a lot of fun. I find it’s a bit pricey at approx $10/mth so I unsubscribe often and then come back later. But it’s one of my top 3 apps for chess.
Comprehensive, understandable, very good for beginners. Teaches you the basics of chess as well as some strategies.
This app is great for anyone looking to improve their chess skills, but it freezes whenever you play certain moves (Such as step 4, Interference lesson. Moving the queen to f8 causes the app to freeze, and you have to go back.) it isn’t a major issue, but it can be slightly annoying. All in all, it’s great, but could be better.
Such a great tool to learn and have fun at the same time. Great lessons and comment from Magnus. Super impressed. Thank you Magnus!
