To install and play the A Dark Room on your PC or Mac, we have painstakingly written these instructions to get the game running on your computer. Now follow the 4 simple steps below:
awake. head throbbing. vision blurry. come light the fire. - One of Apple's most downloaded apps of 2014. - Ranked in the top 10 games in 70 countries, #1 app overall in 7. - From an indie game developer who loves gaming. - No ads, no loot boxes, no IAP, no crippled game play.
Definitely worth it. Great game.
I enjoyed this game up until the no hut playthrough where every time I tried listening to secrets, the game would immediately crash. If the developers fixed this, I would definitely give this game 5 stars.
Wonderful text based adventure game, you get to build and explore and find pieces of a story that unfolds around you.
A very unique experience
Such a fun and cool game.
This game is perfect. I have bought dozens of games that I have quickly deleted. There is so much trash on the App Store. But. This one is fabulous. I stumbled across this game and thought it sounded original. I was absolutely hooked right from the start. I have now played it through twice and am completely satisfied. It is worth the really low price just to try something unique. And also just to have that mystery of “what the heck is happening??” The first time you play it. You really need to buy this on a day when you have nothing to do so you can play it through to the end. It will take you a few hours. No sound. No pictures. Very cryptic. A little dark and concerning at times. “What did that just say??” Kind of moments. This is my only review ever. Great job guys. Wow.
It's so much fun and I can't stop playing it! 10/5
If you have any doubt in your mind about spending the money to buy this game, let me ease your mind. This game is EASILY worth $50. From the simple yet captive gameplay style, to the intriguing and fascinating storyline, A Dark Room does it all. The uncomplicated controls leave your imagination to do the rest of the work for you. Every aspect of this game is absolutely amazing, and even the fact that it was coded and produced by only to fine young men is incredible. The added voice comments left by the developers at the end only adds to the beauty of this game. Listening to them after you have completed the game with/without building huts expands the already vast complexity of the storyline and the mysterious characters throughout. If there was an option to rate 6 stars, I most definitely would.
I rarely leave a negative review but in this case I do feel that it has been misrepresented. I gave it time to unfold but, as many other one star reviews noted, there is only endless resource collection, no real story and a vague DOS map of negative experiences.
I only vaguely remembered playing the game years ago and loving it. Just picked it up last week, and it’s still such a wonderful experience. Well done, really an amazing, slow, carefully crafted and rewarding game.
