The puzzle gets harder every day with Monday the easiest. The big one on Sunday should be midweek difficult. This puzzle is a really fun part of my day. Beginners can enable ‘autocorrect’ that shows any incorrect entries. At first that may help in learning how to do the harder puzzles. Later, turning off autocorrect allows you to collect stars for every consecutive correct puzzle completed. It is fun to see how many stars you can accumulate.

  • Love the crosswords, app is terrible

The layout on the website is way cleaner and easy to use on iPad and iPhone. My keyboard won’t resize properly in the app on iPad and I can only enter Gs or Hs. All of the games aren’t available like Tiles or Vertex. Love NYT and The Crossword but the app is unusable. Stick to your browser.

The app crashes EVERY SINGLE TIME when I try to open it. I always have to reopen the app to play my spelling bee. Also it’d be neat if you add game statistics like what you do for wordle

I have an older iPad and the puzzle page no longer loads after the new update. All you see are blanks squares. The only way to access the day’s puzzle is through archives.

  • Missed potential on IPad

I want to start by saying that I love that this app exists. I hate giving it such a bad review considering I use it daily and love solving crossword puzzles. However there is so much lost potential, particularly on the IPad application. Let me start by saying the app layout for Ipad is just terrible, so much lost real estate due to the permanent software keyboard. Additionally, iPads have had a pencil for years, and more recently the feature to recognize handwriting. The Apple Pencil would be perfect for crossword puzzles! Please include the option to hide that intrusive software keyboard and add Apple Pencil support to write the answers! (Probably converting handwriting to text since the application needs to be usable across devices). Two other less frustrating issues: Syncing between devices only occurs when you open a puzzle, why in the world? Navigating back to a puzzle is frustrating after you’ve closed it, it doesn’t need to be. Add a continue/resume puzzle button or something.

I’m very satisfied with the app and I’ve used it every day for over three years now for the daily crossword, daily mini and the Spelling Bee. It would be nice if the Spelling Bee had a configuration setting for the iPad where you could set the position (left or right) for the word list.

You have to pay for the app! Don’t accept the trial if you are not ready to pay. Please put a disclaimer/ in app-purchase beforehand. I would make a review about the app but it seems to me that paying for crossword puzzles is not worth it.

Love this app, except for the fact that every once in a while it locks me out and tells me to subscribe when I am subscribed. I have to turn my phone off and on again to get it to work.

No ads (AMAZING), but I played the free version for months and finally decided to go for the yearly. I realized I looked forward to doing the free mini every day, and had played the dozens of free full sized puzzles and took the jump. No regrets, brings so much fun to my everyday. Go for it!
